abstract = "In the evaluation of planted forests is important to identify the
area actually planted. This study was conducted at the evaluation
the Fazenda Ressaca, in Ponte Serrada - SC, with 87.7260 hectares
of Pinus taeda. For the temporal analysis were used Ikonos
satellite images dated 2002 and 2008. The area obtained by
interpreting the image of 2002 was higher than the area actually
planted depending on the project did not following as planned,
besides the occurrence of the death of seedlings. Another factor
discovered at the field were the accumulation of branches and tree
remains from previous cuttings, in which the area counted as of
effective planted ground showed error after the interpretation of
the 2008 image. By overlaying maps, the area of effective
plantation, established through the interpretation of the picture
dated 2008, amounted to 84.7457 hectares, while the corresponding
planting held in noncompliance with environmental legislation
amounted to 2.9803 hectares. The area that should be implanted or
with flaws totaled 15.1102 hectares Should INCRA compensate the
forest through the area of the implantation project and not by the
actual planting, would pay more the sum of R\$113,418.50. Through
the results, we note the importance of combining the use of remote
sensing and field survey. The cost of the image is infinitely
irrelevant compared to the cost if the same area had to be
measured, facilitating the identification of areas in violation of
environmental legislation and reduces the cost of the forest
inventory.",
